Michelle Bollinger Lecture

I wasn't sure how to feel about this lecture going in, but once I sat through it, I immediately thought of what not to do if I ever give my own artist lecture. I wasn't that impressed with the work that she showed, but I'm not that much of a fan of abstract paintings anyway. Also the lecture seemed to drag on forever and she couldn't keep my attention for too long. She focused a lot on the work itself and her process of making it, which I guess is the point of these lectures, but if you can't stimulate interest in your work, then what is the point?

Isak Applin and Carl Baratta Lecture

I was hesitant to go to this lecture after how dull the first five were, but to my surprise, this was one of the best artist lectures I've been to. The two went back and forth with their witty banter and talked about how collaboration was a huge part of what they did. I was impressed by how large the pieces that they made were. I suppose since there are two of them working on these, it makes it simpler to go large-scale. The two artists showed quite a bit of varying work, from burnt in wood carvings to paintings. I must say that the two managed to keep my interest all night with their mix of jokes, story telling, and art analysis.
